Speciality Trained
In addition to graduating from the highly respected Indiana University School of Dentistry, OSO’s Dr. Coates and Dr. DeWitt have each completed a rigorous oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program. These programs consist of 4-6 years of hospital based surgical and medical training in disciplines such as general surgery, head and neck surgery, plastic surgery, internal medicine, anesthesiology, pathology, and, of course, oral and maxillofacial surgery.
Board Certified
Both Dr. Coates and Dr. DeWitt are certified as Diplomates of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) for successfully completing both a written exam and a rigorous oral examination after residency. This board certification demonstrates their commitment to deliver the highest level of care to their patients.

Highly recognized among their colleagues in the medical field, Dr. Coates and Dr. DeWitt maintain full privileges at Franciscan Alliance Hospitals, and are on call with the emergency departments for the treatment of maxillofacial trauma and infections.
